Common Admission Test (CAT) is national-level management entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM). CAT scores are used for admission to various management courses across the country.
CAT 2016 was conducted by IIM Bangalore on December 4, (forenoon and afternoon sessions). The results were declared on January 9, 2017.

There is no change in eligibility criteria to appear in CAT 2016.
There’s no specific list of CAT participating colleges. However, besides all the 20 IIMs almost every top B-School in India accepts CAT scores.
The IIMs mainly offer Postgraduate, Doctoral and executive programmes. The two-year flagship programme of IIMs - Post Graduate Diploma - is also popularly known as MBA. Admission is based on merit and a rigorous selection process that consists of Group Discussions (GD), Written Ability Test (WAT), Personal Interview (PI), CAT scores and other factors.
CAT 2016 application process commenced on August 8, and closed on September 27 (5pm).
The form was to be submitted online with payment of application fee through Credit Card, Debit Card or Net Banking.
CAT registration process is a three-step online process.
The three step registration process involves – registration, log in and filling the application form. After registering, applicants have to fill the application form on the official website.
The registration fee is Rs 1700 for General and NC-OBC candidates (Rs 850 for SC/ST/PWD (DA) categories). Additional charges are applicable on the final amount.
The test fee can be paid via Debit/Credit cards or through internet banking.

There was no change in CAT 2016 exam pattern this year.
The CAT 2016 question paper consisted of the following sections:
Quantitative Aptitude (QA)
Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR)
Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VRC)
Candidates were given 180 minutes to answer the questions. Each section was allotted 60 minutes. The candidates could not choose any section to start with or switch from one section to another. They had to follow the question paper chronoligically, from section 1-3.
Last year, the exam pattern was restructured to bring diversity in terms of students.
